Bajo la premisa de establecer una fusión entre el casi inexistente Parque Interactivo de Ciencia y Tecnología, y la estructuración de un nuevo Centro de Convenciones de talla internacional, se desarrolló un proyecto que justo fusiona lo global y lo local (GLO_CAL), inspirado en la mezcla entre los edificios institucionales clásicos y los sencillos y tradicionales “caneys” predominantes en la región.
De esta forma, aparece un pórtico de columnatas que rodea e integra la edificación existente y la nueva, generando una semblanza integral y sobria para el conjunto. El proyecto adicionalmente hace énfasis en resaltar la diversidad de fauna y flora de la región, a través de densos jardines internos y de la implementación de un aviario y un mariposario, los cuales permiten al público sensibilizarse con la ecología particular de Santander.

Under the premise of establishing a link between the almost non-existent Interactive Science and Technology Park and the structuring of a new International Convention Center, the project was developed in order to fuse the global and the local imputs (GLO_CAL). This was inspired by the mixture between the classic institutional building and the simple and traditional “caneys” prevailing in the region.
In this way, a portico of colonnades appears surrounding and integrating the existing building with the new one, generating an integral and sober representation for the entire center. The project also emphasizes the diversity of fauna and flora in the region, through dense internal gardens. The implementation of an aviary and a butterfly house, allows the public to become aware of the particular ecology of Santander's region.
